ERA is a local environmental NGO in Peja, Kosovo. Founded in 2003, our goal is to promote and increase environmental consciousness, awareness, and responsibility amongst the youth and community of Kosovo in order to protect, conserve and promote the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Through its environmental and education programs, ERA sustains and reinforces rural and urban local, national and trans-boundary civil society, while promoting responsible and sustainable development and positive cross-border cooperation in the region.
As an organization, ERA is committed to the belief that solutions are more effective and enduring when they involve local participation in planning and implementing projects, thus increasing the capacity of the community to implement new projects. As a result our projects reflect the local values, needs and respect for natural and cultural heritage. In doing this ERA provides youth and the local community opportunities to develop problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills, which enable them to participate in future community developments as engaged and active citizens, such as creating models and methods of environmental education, stewardship for natural resources and cultural heritage that can be applied throughout the region.
ERA manages the first and only Environmental Education Center in the region, located in the cultural monument of Haxhi Zeka's mill in Peja.
In 2018 ERA celebrates its 15th anniversary. Join us in celebrations!
